So, Trump arrested a judge. First time ever for a president? A harbinger of things to come? A Constitutional crisis, or not?

A wise expenditure of government funds? Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) plans to launch hearings into “what actually happened” in the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attack, adding another conspiracy theory to his portfolio. Wait, is he done helping Marjorie Green investigate the Jewish space lasers that started those fires?

If dry rot is caused by moisture, why don’t we call it “wet rot?”

And in Gaza: Israel has continued its nearly two-month blockade of Gaza, even as aid groups warn that supplies are dwindling.
On Friday (25th), the World Food Program said that its food stocks in Gaza had run out, ending a main source of sustenance for hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. It said the dozens of charity kitchens it supports are expected to run out of food in the coming days.

The nonprofit group that runs Wikipedia was threatened by Ed Martin, the interim United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, in a letter accusing it of “allowing foreign actors to manipulate information and spread propaganda to the American public.” – and yes, I give a little to Wikipedia yearly. Oh, no! Maybe I’ll get on Nixon’s, er, Trump’s hate list!

Trump’s people say that he knows what he is doing economically, but: The Dow Jones Industrial Average has lost nearly 5,000 points since Trump took office. While some rightfully fear a recession, hedge-fund billionaire Ray Dalio — who predicted the 2008 financial collapse — warns it will be far “worse” than that if things don’t soon improve.

Someday there will be a push for workers to have defined benefit pensions, not defined contribution ones (like 401ks), as was more common years ago.

When I hear someone say, “What’s the weather outside?” I think of the nautical meaning. To us, when in port, it meant “What’s the weather like outside the (protection of the) harbor?” Good to know if the trip would be rough or smooth. And a common signing off phrase when using Morse code, was “Smooth Sailing.” I was very good at Morse, flashing light and key, and sometimes wished I had been a radio operator.

Didja Know Dept.: That you can now buy a “Trump 2028” hat for $50.? Of course, for a mere ten bucks more you can get a Trump Bible. No more Trump steaks, though. Or Trump University. Or Trump Taj Mahal Casino.

Trump has lowest 100-day approval rating in 80 years: POLL

From Huffpost: Trump has gone after universities for not obeying his decrees. He has extorted law firms for having on staff, or just once-upon-a-time having had on staff, people who crossed him. He has targeted for prosecution former aides who challenged him. He has arrested a local judge for not helping him round up migrants for deportation. He has attacked the free press for not bending to his will. On his very first day in office, he released from prison hundreds of domestic terrorists, effectively a personal militia, who assaulted police officers in his name.
He is straight-up defying the United States Supreme Court.
And — here is the truly terrifying part — he is getting away with it.

Trump Boldly Claims Steep Tariffs Could Lead To Taxes Being ‘Completely Eliminated’ For Some Workers
“It will be a BONANZA FOR AMERICA!!!” the president wrote on social media.
Even he should know by now that is not how it works, but he does not care, if it fools enough people. – Let’s say it reduces your income taxes by say, $3,000 but adds $4,000 in higher prices for everything you buy . . . are you better off?
…………………………..
Trump’s former chief economic advisor: Cohn: “Tariffs are highly regressive. Meaning that poorer people end up paying a disproportionate percentage of the tariffs.” – as I keep saying, it is the same with sales tax and a flat tax.

President Trump made clear Sunday that he would not follow his predecessor’s practice of recognizing Indigenous Peoples Day alongside Columbus Day in October, accusing Democrats of denigrating the explorer’s legacy as he pressed his campaign to restore what he argues are traditional American icons. – I thought Colombus was an Italian sailing for Spain. . . Didja know Columbus enslaved people and butchered them? And how is it that many say he “discovered” the Americas when over (an estimated) one million people lived here? An early case of political spin? Reminds me of one of the first political spins in our history: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

Just when you thought Trump has run out of dumb people for important jobs: Trump’s Navy Secretary Keeps Flubbing the Date Of Pearl Harbor — John Phelan, an investor and Trump donor, has never served in the military.

What Trump thinks of himself: “The first time, I had two things to do—run the country and survive; I had all these crooked guys,” he told The Atlantic in a recent interview. “And the second time, I run the country and the world.” Yes, your president said that.

WASHINGTON – Donald Trump is 100 days into his second presidency, and to mark the occasion, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) plans to read into the congressional record what she says are 100 cases of Trump using the presidency to personally benefit himself and his allies. – Huffpost. From ABC: TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida is poised to ban fluoride in public drinking water, over the concerns of dentists and public health advocates who say the mineral is a safe, effective way to protect people of all ages from developing cavities. – Ah, you gotta love DeSantis!

Republicans’ proposed Medicaid cuts would be inhumane and catastrophic, making this a brutal budget bill indeed.
It does not have to be this way. It isn’t this way right now. Republicans choosing tax breaks for the rich over all our well-being would be unwise, unnecessary and repugnant. – MSNBC

In an article on how Trump gas lights things: Trump, presented with unpleasant news, simply turned reality on its head and declared that bad news was good news — not because of the evidence, but because he said so. This has effectively become a daily occurrence. Presented with the evidence that foreign visitors are traveling to the United States in far fewer numbers, Trump falsely said, “Tourism is way up.” Presented with evidence that egg prices have gone up, Trump falsely said egg prices have gone down. Presented with evidence that grocery prices have gone up, Trump falsely said grocery prices have gone down. – What’s next? “War is Peace?”
