In the Things I Learned the Hard Way Dept.: Do not wear your hearing aids in the shower.
Another thing: If you think you’re being followed, don’t go home.
……………..
Update: I now have a note on my shower door about hearing aids.

Trumpy is still on a quest to kill Obamacare. This time by making it too expensive for millions. He has hated Obama since O made fun of him at a dinner when O was prez. Never mind the five years when T was the head of the Birther Liars.
…………………
A quick review of some unconstitutional things Trump has done, courtesy MSNBC: He signed an executive order seeking to end birthright citizenship — a right guaranteed under the 14th Amendment. His administration has framed tariffs as one of its signature policy achievements, yet the Constitution explicitly gives Congress the power to impose tariffs under Article 1, Section 8. And then there is Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard against U.S. citizens, a move that multiple courts have found violates the Posse Comitatus Act. – Point is what makes anyone think he won’t try to be “elected” again? Or tear down the whole White House and put up a Trump Tower?

Baseball: Most of y’all know we like baseball. And yes, we watched almost all of the record tying 18-inning game last night. I have never been to a game that long in person, thankfully, as I would feel compelled to stay until the end!

New buzz: Trump wants to reverse some pardons that Biden did (no law to do this, or precedent). Everyday something else, well, except Epstein files updates. Maybe Prince Andrew will spill the beans?

He’s closer to total control:
| The White House fired all six members of the Commission of Fine Arts. The agency’s role is to advise the president, Congress, and local government officials on design and preservation in the capital region. Previous administrations have typically sought the agency’s approval for major construction projects. |

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Immigration officials have deported a father living in Alabama to Laos despite a federal court order blocking his removal from the U.S. on the grounds he has a claim to citizenship, the man’s attorneys said Tuesday. – Ah, hell, he looks like a foreigner, right?

Good News Dept.: Captain Dylan Blaha of the Illinois Army National Guard is refusing Trump’s order to deploy him against Americans on U.S. soil—and urging others in the military to disobey such illegal orders.
Got this from the Borowitz Report, which is usually satire. It reminds me that of one of the top military guys in our Southern Command, who recently resigned, likely after the killing of suspected drug smugglers, and the obvious buildup of forces to maybe attack Venezuela. I wonder what would happen if Trump ordered troops to seize voting machines in an election, as was suggested to him in 2020?

Good News Dept.: LA Times poll says 60% of Ca. voters approve of Prop. 50.

One way to solve the housing crisis . . .

I give up . . . “their” is now singular and plural. Example:
“A coyote attacked and chased a 9-year-old in Portland, Oregon, while the child was playing hide-and-seek in their own yard.” And: “A coyote approached the 9-year-old and bit their foot,” – ABC News

Something that has puzzled me for a long time:
Why so many Americans are obsessed with royalty and the trappings of it? Didn’t we fight our first war in opposition to royalty? And then there are so many small countries who still have kings and queens, even if they have no real power. What is the point, then? Make believe, like a Cinderella movie? Geez!
……………………
I have watched the trailer for the new movie, Nuremburg, and think I will see it. Partly why is because of my 11th grade history teacher. His name was Joe Williams, and we all called him G. I. Joe; behind his back, of course, but he knew it and liked it. He was Ex Army all the way. Every year he would start American History with the revolution, but when we got to WWII in the textbook, we never went beyond it. This was in 1963 and there were only 18 years since the war, but some stuff happened. In WWII he ended up as a sergeant at the Nuremburg trials, in charge of the execution squad. They hung the guilty. He would not talk about executing famous Nazis except after class, and only to the boys. I recall a vivid description of a guilty prisoner who tried to commit suicide in his cell and was badly injured. They dragged him to the gallows anyway. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, in 1963, he told us that he had his M-1 oiled up and was ready to invade Cuba. We believed him.

No one asked me But Dept.: Yes, I think we should get rid of the penny. The government is not making any more anyway, so I think that’s where we are headed. McDonald’s is now rounding up or down to nickels. It cost more than a penny to produce a penny. The computers can adjust. How often do you get any change, anyway? Cash? What’s that?

Halloween Fact: Before people carved pumpkins, they carved turnips.

When I read about how much energy these AI farms are sucking up, it is scary. Where will all that energy come from as the demand gets higher, and will all our bills go up because of it? One report I read says we will need nuclear plants again . . .

These battles to Gerrymander states is heating up and I don’t like it. What California is doing was necessary, but now it looks like it will spread to N.C., Va. Ohio, and who knows where?

Here in Ca., we do daylight savings. I don’t like changing. Leave it as is. Soon, it will be dark by 5:00 p.m. Kids who stay late at school walk home in the dark. And, most importantly, I can’t remember all the ways I have to use to reset our damn clocks!

Dad Joke:
Did you hear about the restaurant on the moon?
Great food, no atmosphere.

And again, this, that I support: American believers in a more representative democracy should support the passage of legislation to end the Electoral College. This 18th-century artifact denies American voters the ability to elect the president of the United States directly. – This was done purposely to prevent the average American from having almost any say in the new government.

Part of an Andy Borowitz piece on Trump: “Unable to be a conscientious objector since he was born without a conscience, young Donald draft-dodged via something else he wasn’t born with: bone spurs in his heels.” And . . . “Nowadays, Trump is always up for a fight, especially if it’s on social media and with a woman.” – Well, he must be tough, he makes a fist all the time.
