Trump still thinks that you need an ID to buy groceries or gasoline.
Well, he also gave a speech wherein he kept mixing up South Africa and South America.

From 60 Minutes: Trump on Binance cryptocurrency tycoon he pardoned: “I don’t know who he is.” Uh, ok, maybe I can believe that? Even though that guy now helps with Trump’s crypto currency scamming.

We get our local TV news from L.A. Recently, they had a bit where a local town in SoCal was going to put police outside of some grocery stores, because of the SNAP cutoff. In America. People worried that some would steal food! Food!

The Moon looks upside down in the Southern Hemisphere, compared to the Northern Hemisphere. This means that the ‘Man in the Moon’ is upside down in the Southern Hemisphere and looks more like a rabbit. — Fact of the Day

More proof that Trump really is a “very stable genius”: Trump makes an overdue discovery: ‘They have this new word called affordability’ — MSNBC — Well, recall that he said that he invented the word “caravan.” And he has said more than once that “groceries” is a new word. To him? Genius all the way.

A house cleaner was shot and killed after arriving at the wrong house in an Indiana subdivision, police said Wednesday. It was a couple in the cleaning crew. Woman dead, shot through the door. No talking to them, no calling the police, just blast away, that is what we have come to be. When someone is in your driveway or on your porch, just blast away! And worst of all, I bet they get away with it – I can hear it now – “I was afraid for my life,” or “I thought they were breaking in,” or “I thought she had a gun.” Wait, are those police lines? Maybe the homeowner learned them at a police academy.

Something I saw on Huffpost I like: “Authoritarian politics thrives on division because clarity — even false clarity — feels safer than complexity.” Like “Us and them.” “Patriots and traitors.” “Law and chaos.” All about division.

Many of you know that Kath and I support train travel, and some train non-profits too. I am pleased to relate that Amtrak’s newest service, connecting Mobile, Ala. to New Orleans, with stops in between, is a huge success; it has doubled the anticipated ridership and had to add another car already. Better than driving the I-10, I can attest to that! And yes, there used to be thru Amtrak service from LA all the way to Orlando, via Jacksonville, and we have taken it thru there in the past.

Have you noticed the trend of news websites now requiring you to sign up and (mostly) pay a fee to read their content? CNN, BBC and Washington Post are doing it. I guess it will continue until I give up and pay someone. I still have Huffpost, ABC, CBS and others that remain free. I do pay for the digital copy of the LA Times, delivered via email every day.

Can’t Make This up Dept.: Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem reportedly authorized the purchase of 10 Spirit Airlines planes before she realized that the airline didn’t own the planes. Also, none of the planes came with engines. – What? An incompetent cabinet member? Hearsay! You want more? Here: FBI Director Kash Patel has recently come under scrutiny for using a $60 million FBI jet to go see his girlfriend perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” at a wrestling event in Pennsylvania.

College football: many players do not wear “football pants” anymore, but some shorter version. The new version does not cover the knees; older version had built in knee pads. Aren’t knee injuries common and dangerous? I suppose some study said the pads didn’t really protect? To be seen.

No surprise here: President Trump has pardoned dozens of people who allegedly tried to overturn the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, including those who were named as so-called “alternate state electors” to certify the results. – I wonder if his pardons have set a record yet? His big finish someday will be that Maxwell pedophile.

Dateline Monday: Trump is welcoming the new president of Syria today. He is a former wanted terrorist. The guy, Al-Sharaa, is the former leader of U.S.-designated terror group al-Qaeda who was once wanted by the U.S. as a terrorist with a $10 million bounty on his head. He has even served time in the infamous Abu Ghraib prison. —from ABC News. But now he is ok? Well, hell, Putin, Orban, Kim Un, Bolsonaro are ok, right? Or, wait, does he have a plane to give to Trump? Money to invest in Trump’s family crypto?

I am against the deal the 8 moderate Dems negotiated. Why? It will be the end of Obamacare, something Trump has wanted for 10 years. He will win. Who else is against? Gov. Gavin Newson, Sens. Chris Murphy and Bernie Sanders, and Robert Reich to name a few. And yes, it will help many to get their benefits, or paychecks, now, but Dems could have gotten this deal in week #1. This deal does nothing to protect health care premiums. Per Huffpost: Millions of people are about to see their health care costs double, triple or even quadruple. — The Dems will propose a great bill in December, and every Republican will vote it down. They did not take full advantage of last Tuesday’s wins. IMHO. Hope I am wrong.

Grocery tip if you buy bagels at the bakery. Instead of keeping them in the little paper bag at home, transfer them to a reusable Tupperware container. They will stay fresh longer.

And from Dr. Oz: “We’ve dropped [the price of] infertility drugs to make lots of Trump babies, I’m hoping by the midterms.” Why does this remind me of Hitler’s advice to German women to have more babies, because Germany would need them.

I think Trump will attack Venezuela. Without a declaration from Congress, of course. Of all the people I could blame for Trump, I blame the Rs in Congress the most. They could have removed him via impeachment, twice. They could have refused to nominate him because of his violation of the Insurrection Clause of the Constitution. They could oppose his usurpation of their own power. The Supreme Court could rein him in. They do nothing.

For Thanksgiving this year, we are doing our dinner at Gemmel’s in Dana Point Harbor. We have been there for holiday meals before. Very good, French restaurant, but they also offer a traditional turkey dinner that day.

We need to get started on our Christmas card design. We have been doing our own since 2007. I used to use Snapfish, but they goofed up our cards and had a chance to correct, but did not, so we switched to Vistaprint and like them.
