Update 03/15/2026

Have you seen images of Obama’s presidential library?  The main building looks like an obelisk to me; very strange.  I am sure it has some meaning to him, but . . . have a look online.  If I find a picture that I can copy in I will.

Here:

From The Atlantic:

Gullible, Cynical America

Many Americans believe that vaccines are unsafe, but will jab themselves full of performance enhancers. They think seed oils cause chronic disease, but beef tallow is healthy. They’ll say you can’t trust federally insured banks, but you can trust the millionaires who want you to invest in their volatile vaporware crypto tokens. They think food additives are toxic but support an administration removing all restrictions on pumping pollutants into the air and water. They’ll insist that you can’t trust scientists, because they’re part of the conspiracy. The podcaster selling you his special creatine gummies, though? He seems trustworthy.

Three of the things wrong with the U.S.:

  1.  Kyle Rittenhouse is not in jail.
  2. His parents are not in jail.
  3. Lots of people think Kyle “did the right thing.”

………………………..

Three more things:

  1.  Money controls our government.
  2. Insider trading is rampant, even legal when Congressmen do it.
  3. Congress, over time, has abandoned many of its Constitutional rights.

Trump trusts Russia and Putin?  This:

White House’s Witkoff vouches for Russia’s trustworthiness on Iran and alleged war assistance

Confronted with evidence of Russia aiding Iran, Team Trump has shrugged, boosted Russia’s economy and vouched for Moscow’s reliability. – MSNOW

Reminds me of W Bush saying that he “looked into Putin’s eyes and could see his soul, and he was a good man.”  True.  George W. Bush, president.

Didja see that some billionaires are moving to Florida because of lower taxes and states like California mulling over a 5% one-time tax on them?  Here’s a fact for ya and it does not even take into account interest the money would earn . . .

It would take 2,737 years, 10 months, and 7 days to spend one billion dollars at a rate of $1,000. per day.  Of course, many of these tax avoiders have more than one measly billion.

Or, to put it another way, if you had one billion and wanted to spend it in ten years (again, ignoring interest) you would have to spend $273,972 a day.

Didja know?  There is such a sport as wheelchair rugby, and yes, it is a contact sport!

Another useless fact:  Everest Grows 4 Millimeters Per Year — Everest is already the highest peak above sea level, and it’s still growing.

One more:  The word “desert” tends to evoke images of extreme heat, cacti, and vast expanses of sand. The technical definition is less fanciful: an area that receives no more than 25 centimeters (10 inches) of precipitation per year. With that in mind, it’s perhaps less surprising that Antarctica is the world’s largest desert.

Can’t picture this:  The most luminous and massive known star is R136a1 in the Large Magellanic Cloud. It’s 8.7 million times brighter than our Sun. Provided by FactRetriever.com

Q:  Why did the dad sit on his watch?

You can get this….

Try, try again.

A:  He wanted to be on time.

More cabinet incompetence:  Kristi Noem’s strict spending-approval process delayed FEMA contract renewal for crucial tornado tracking tool. Search-and-rescue crews responding to deadly Midwest tornadoes last week were left on their own. CNN

…………………..

From CBS:  One-third of Americans are cutting back on everyday living expenses — even skipping meals — and stretching their prescription medications so they can afford health care.

And no, this does not happen in most countries.

From The Atlantic, in an article on what could happen if oil gets to $200. a barrel, a possibility: “Sustained higher oil prices could plunge the world into a recession, raise borrowing costs, alter the outcome of ongoing wars, and shift the balance of global-power competition in favor of Russia and China.”

Just Learned Dept.:  If you suspect a can of soda has been shaken, tap it four times on the sides, and it should not explode.  Saw a video of this.

This is short for me, but I want to post it about the same time I usually do.  Maybe I am sad about the state of the world and tired of writing so much about it.  People I read like Robert Reich say to “stay the fight,” etc. and maybe they are right.  The mid-terms will tell us a lot. One thing is that I did find a photo of Obama’s “library” and will post it (as usual, “if I remember”).

Saw the movie Crime 101 and liked it.  Suspense, car chases, crime movie if you like that.

All take care,
