After two rounds of the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament, there are no perfect brackets left in the ESPN contest . . . out of over 26,000,000 submitted, including mine.

Trump says that the Iran war is “weeks ahead of schedule” – I am so relieved.  Of course, there is no schedule, so I guess that is easy to say?

Trump disrespecting Mueller when he died:  The absurdity of a man who avoided Vietnam due to “bone spurs” (five total deferments) dancing on the grave of a decorated combat veteran. – Do any vets still support Trump?

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — A California sheriff running for governor has seized more than half a million ballots cast in a November special election from county election officials, saying he’s investigating a ballot count discrepancy. – [He is, of course, a Republican, and this is, of course, nonsense.]  More:  County elections officials have disputed the claims by Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, a Republican. California Attorney General Rob Bonta, a Democrat, called Bianco’s move unprecedented and says it is designed to sow distrust in elections.

Didja know?  Nearly All Rain Starts as Snow

Freezing rain? Starts as snow, melts to rain, then freezes right before the ground, before it can become snowflakes.

Read an article about how many people are moving to the mid-west, as opposed to years ago, when it was called “fly over country.”  And cost of living, particularly housing, is a main reason.

………………….

In re: to Hormuz, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said: “. . . And thanks to President Trump, many countries around the world have agreed to help in this effort.” – Like who?

…………………

Even more hypocrisy:   Trump has attacked mail-in balloting: He claims without evidence that it is riddled with fraud. There’s a special election today in Palm Beach, Florida — Trump voted by mail.

Trump administration to pay energy firm $1 billion to stop East Coast wind farms

The Interior Department said it is reimbursing the French energy company to ditch leases for its offshore wind projects and instead invest in U.S. fossil fuel efforts.  – So much for forward thinking or protecting the planet – gotta be a buck in it for Trump.

Shay Taylor-Allen will be one of Yale School of Medicine’s newest residents.

Beware of the giant, mutant ninja cats!

Saw the new movie Hail Mary today.  Disappointing to me.  In the last few years, we have seen two other sci-fi movies I liked a lot better – Passengers and The Martian.  To me, a movie is “sci-fi” and not “fantasy” when the plot is believable, even if outlandish.  This movie and some of the characters, do not match that, in my opinion.

So, since we have landed on the moon several times, and there is no evidence of anything there worth much to us on Earth, why this?: At the space agency’s “Ignition” event Tuesday (3/24) at NASA headquarters in Washington, D.C., NASA leaders presented an ambitious, $20 billion plan to return humans to the moon and build a permanent base there.

I recently learned that there are professional cornhole players.  They make money doing that?  Are there sponsors?  Who would pay to watch?

More good news:  Florida Democrats Tuesday flipped a Republican-leaning statehouse seat that includes President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home and which he had won by double digits just 16 months ago.  First-time candidate Emily Gregory defeated Jon Maples, a former commissioner of an area town who did not live in the district heading into the election.

One of the many things not getting much attention:  The number of Venezuelan troops or citizens we killed in the kidnapping of their president.  Some Cuban troops, too.  Estimates are between 50 and 100.

For baseball fans:  Today (Wednesday) is opening day this year.  I finally found the answer to a question I have had.  The “robot” umpire system, allowing challenges to ball and strike calls, does account for the height of each player.  It does not account for the stance, i.e., those who crouch down don’t get a smaller zone.  We’ll see.  I do think the pitch clock is working and most players used to it.

……………….

Yesterday morning, someone or some group bought large amounts of stock index futures and sold off large amounts of oil futures just 15 minutes before President Trump posted online that he was halting planned strikes on Iranian power plants. Whoever made the bet likely walked away with a massive profit. – Wednesday post.  No surprise here.  Anyone Trump knows?

I am more convinced than ever that Trump and his family are playing the stock market like a radio, knowing in advance what he will announce and its effect on the market.

Even the World Cup is an opportunity for Trump and money:

The United States State Department published guidelines on its “Visa Bond” program last week, which targets the citizens of 50 developing or impoverished nations, forcing them to pay exorbitant visa fees to enter the United States. It raises the total sum of a U.S. Visa from $435 at the close of 2025, to now requiring travelers from these 50 nations to pay $5,000, $10,000, or $15,000 — with the determination on the bond amount only being made after a visa interview.

Blast from the Past:  More costs will emerge. The George W. Bush administration in 2003 put the cost of the Iraq war at $40 billion; it ended up costing about $3 trillion.
