The administration is letting in only a handful of refugees this year. More than half are from South Africa, in line with Trump’s false claims of an Afrikaner “genocide.” – South Africa might have changed a lot since I was there in 1981, but the attitudes of most of the people I bet have not.

What’s wrong with baseball Dept.: The most expensive series in MLB history begins Monday night when the New York Mets, carrying a $375 million-plus CBT payroll, visit the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have an MLB-high $413.5 million CBT payroll this season.
When you factor in the competitive balance tax both teams are paying this year, the total player expenditure for the 2026 season jumps to more than $1.07 billion.

NASA says the Artemis moon mission was “historic.” I guess that’s true because it has been so long since we even circled the moon. But it has happened before. It was not a “first.” So, is it really “historic?” If it is, then every space flight is too.

No link between fluoride in water and lower IQ, study finds
A 2026 longitudinal study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences tracking children over time found no link between fluoridated drinking water and lower IQ.
Well, considering RFK Jr., is there a link between no fluoride and low IQ?

In other “health” news, Dr. Oz said that Trump told him that drinking soda would kill cancer cells, because soda can kill grass (especially the coke that T likes).

Clues that I have become a real SoCal resident:
I say, “The I-5.”
I have “Bitchin’ Sauce” in the fridge.
There are boogie boards in the garage.
I drive faster than I used to, but I will be polite and use my blinker when I cut you off doing 80 on the freeway.

Didja Know? California is bigger than Italy, although Italy has more people.

Well, we blew up another “suspected” drug boat, and killed all on it. Oh, well, we don’t care about evidence, due process, or trials here anymore, right?

Didja see the photo op of Trump getting a Door Dash delivery at the White House? Staged so the woman could say how much Trump’s no tax on tips would save her. A reporter asked her if Trump was a good tipper, and she said “. . . hmmmmmm” and did not answer. Then Trump gave her a $100 bill. He wasn’t going to tip her. Reminds me of when he promised one million dollars to vets – reporters followed up moths later and none had gotten anything. He did the same, promising to pay about $100,000. for a child’s surgery, and the mom later said she had gotten nothing. Typical. Shows his character again.

Eating a Bagel:
For years, I have cut a bagel horizontally, with a top and bottom half. No more. Why? When you do that, you get all the toppings on one half, and none on the other. If you share with someone, one of you gets cheated out of all the poppy seeds, etc. So, I cut mine vertically, leaving two sides the same. And yes, this is more proof that I am retired and have too much time on my hands.

Comments, in part, from Robert Reich on Tax Day:
Don’t fall for these three myths:
1. Trickle-down economics is a cruel joke.
2.The so-called free market has been distorted by huge campaign contributions from the ultra-rich.
3. Don’t lionize the ultra-rich as superior “self-made” human beings who deserve their billions. They were lucky and had connections.
Also: Jeff Bezos’s garage-based start was funded by a quarter-million-dollar investment from his parents. Bill Gates’s mother used her business connections to help land a software deal with IBM that made Microsoft. Elon Musk came from a family that reportedly owned shares of an emerald mine in southern Africa.
I.e., don’t believe the myth that they are all “self-made” wealthy folks. And yes, most wealthy inherit it.

Weird news: An 18-year-old working at a Domino’s Pizza in North Carolina was caught adding a $10. tip to all the credit card orders he took. Said he thought it was a fair tip for himself, and no, he did not tell the customers.

From NPR, or the “What did you expect department”: The Commission of Fine Arts, or CFA, a federal agency, has voted to move ahead with President Trump’s plans to build a 250-foot “victory arch” at the National Mall that will tower over Arlington National Cemetery and obstruct the sightline to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. The approval vote was expected, as Trump had filled the committee with seven of his own appointees after firing all its previous members last October. And, what is the “victory?”

OK, but why shoot a guy who is already dead?

Huffpost: “For people who defended the U.S. Capitol from a mob of Donald Trump’s supporters on Jan. 6, 2021, the Justice Department’s attempt to wipe away convictions for Oath Keepers and Proud Boys convicted of seditious conspiracy for their role in the insurrection is a damning indictment of just how far the institution has fallen.”

So, in the news is that the FBI is now working on DNA from the Guthrie house. Two and a half months after her disappearance? Who has had the evidence all this time?
……………………
Four times now the Republicans have voted against putting any restrictions on Trump’s War. Or, that they have refused four times to assert the rights of only Congress to declare war! Cowards, all.

Can’t believe it Dept.: Vance’s comment that the pope “should be careful when speaking about theology.” He said that. Really.

Overall, again, we see that Trump has screwed somethings up, but then wants credit for even partially putting them back how they were. Examples: Traffic thru the strait of Hormuz. Some kind of agreement to limit Iran’s nuclear capacity. Why? My take is that Obama got credit for the treaty and Trump is still out to eliminate anything Obama did that was beneficial to us. And yes, the Strait was wide open before Trump, and the treaty Obama did was working.

Didja Know Dept.: With World War II already underway, M&Ms were initially made specifically for the U.S. military, providing an ideal way for soldiers to carry energy-rich chocolate in tropical climates without it melting. In 1947, the candy was made available to the public, and its popularity has never waned since.

Dear President Trump: To help you, know this:
A corner store is where they sell corners.
You’re welcome.

Other countries have only three problems with Trump:
- You can’t believe him
- You can’t trust him
- You can’t count on him
- Ok, a fourth – he really is stupid
