From MSNOW: Trump is suddenly urging Republicans to ‘vote by mail’
Maybe someone reminded him that he votes that way.
…………………..
I read that more people are paying for basic necessities – food, rent, medicine – with credit cards. This cannot be good.
………………….
From an article on a school bus crash:
“We are very, very fortunate today that more students were not seriously injured, including the driver.”
So, a student was driving the bus?

From MSNOW:
Trump says some journalists ‘should be arrested,’ escalating attack on free press
–Again, am I in a time warp back to 1930’s Germany? Or maybe Italy? North Korea?

You likely have heard about Ca.’s Prop 40 one-time tax on billionaires, and the different points of view about that.
I think Robert Reich is a brilliant economist, and his view is:
Endorsement: Reich publicly endorses and campaigns for a “Yes” vote on Proposition 40, California’s proposed one-time wealth tax on billionaires. – RR on Facebook
Bernie Sanders is also in favor of it, for whatever that is worth.
………………..
We got our mail in ballots here in Cal. today, Oct. 5th.

I keep seeing how Trump views most everything in terms of money; even sports:
The president plans to attend Saturday’s big college football matchup between Alabama and Georgia, after attending Texas at Tennessee late last month. “Whoa,” Trump proclaimed of the players. “All these guys are making a lot of money.”
…………………..
Nothing wrong with this, right Republicans?
An ABC News analysis found defense companies backed by the president’s sons, including Anduril, have now raked in more than $6 billion dollars in active or promised government contracts.
………………..
I like Gavin Newson, although I don’t agree with all he does:
“Donald Trump is mentally ill,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom told TIME and other media outlets in a statement after the President made remarks Monday suggesting an attack by Iran on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego would be “a small price to pay.”
“TIME FOR THE 25TH!” Newsom added, in apparent reference to the 25th Amendment, a constitutional provision that establishes procedures for presidential succession and for replacing or declaring a President unable to perform their duties.

I am still waiting for the Republican controlled Congress to declare war on Iran.

From MSNBC:
Russian oligarch says Trump Jr. repaid cost of wedding party, but the controversy lingers
–Well, maybe. But if so, why did he let the Russian pay in the first place? He has lots of money.

The park service has undergone deep cuts to its workforce under Trump. Maintenance projects at many sites — including Chiricahua — were ranked a “low priority” by officials who have instead focused on projects wanted by the White House including repairs to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. – This in ref. to a new national park in AZ.

I have long thought that universities should not have fraternities or sororities. Various reasons, but the recent scandal at Cornell is the latest. And the often humiliating and degrading initiation rites? What for? Whaddaya prove with that childish effort?
……………..
Why do I think that this kind of thing is common in Trump World?
Kimberly Guilfoyle, U.S. Ambassador to Greece and one-time fiancée of Donald Trump Jr., reportedly pushed a donor to pay her $100,000 American Express bill ahead of her July 2025 confirmation hearing, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.
………………….
Didja read about the Republican who said that Senator Rafael Warnock should be deported? He was born in Georgia.
………………..
You know how often I write about how obsessed Trump is with money. And often, how he thinks he can control all the fed spending even if Congress is the source. Another example I saw today:
LaPook’s report cited an analysis of FEMA data that found Mr. Trump approved 85% of disaster aid requests from states he won in 2024, compared with only 46% of requests from states won by Kamala Harris. States with Democratic governors also appeared to fare worse. – CBS News
And: President Trump moved to cancel almost $1 billion in spending that was approved by Congress, the White House said late Friday, marking the second time the administration has employed a rarely used tactic that some lawmakers in both parties have called illegal.

Gotta love this:
Trump Has Meltdown Over His Dwindling Crowd Sizes: ‘Thousands Were Turned Away!’
Yeah, that’s why there were empty seats.

Trump claims he’s reached a deal with Putin to buy Russian diesel
—MaddowBlog, Steve Benen
–That’s nice. Helping an avowed enemy of the US to annihilate a friend, Ukraine.
And: “Today, Russia expressed its thanks for the lifting of sanctions on diesel exports by dropping five glide bombs on residential buildings in Zaporizhzhia,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote Saturday on X.
Trump has followed this up by saying it is time for Ukraine to get a new president. To me, Zelenskyy is a heroic figure, something Trump can only dream about. Well, he also makes those AI photos of him as Superman, Jesus, fighter pilot, etc. I know who really needs a new president . . .

So, it turns out that there have never been any buffalo in the US. They were bison. So, Buffalo Bill Cody should have been Bison Bill?

We have relief from the heat last few days. Even rained last night and today!

We had some family here with kids, which we don’t usually see around here. They also brought a 100-pound dog with them! They dog was a rescue but very well-behaved. I was pleasantly surprised at that.
All for this week. All take care,
Kevin
